Whiplash Injury
Not many people realise it but most whiplash injuries effect responsible drivers and occur at speeds of less than 12 mph. Many whiplash accidents also happen to those riding a bicycle, a horse or even happen when someone accidentally slips, trips or falls. There’s usually a reported delay in the onset of discomfort for a whiplash sufferer (sometimes as long as a few days) and children are just as much at risk of sustaining a whiplash injury as adults are, if not more so, because they have weaker necks.
Whiplash symptoms do range but some notable signs include: swelling, muscle stiffness, back and neck pain, pins and needles or other odd sensations, headaches and even difficulties sleeping. Medical professionals can sometimes be divided on the particular kind of spinal damage which whiplash is and its associated symptoms, making it something of a controversial medical problem.
That’s because it’s presently impossible to prove or disprove someone has whiplash and it’s known as an ‘invisible’ injury; something which can often be ‘felt’ but not ’seen.’ However, some statistics indicate that as many as 10% of whiplash suffers eventually develop official disabilities as a result of their injury. We think that’s a startling and sizable statistic, don’t you?
